Standard Chartered lends a helping hand

Standard Chartered Bahrain has announced its support to the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties. The support is in the form of sponsoring several initiatives, including a Walk for Autism scheduled to take place during the month of April, with the aim of raising awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The cheque was presented by the bank to Sahar Juma and Dr Sawsan Karimi, Board Members of the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties.

Commenting on the support, Abdulla Bukhowa, Chairperson of the Diversity & Inclusion agenda, in addition to his position as Head of Corporates and Institutional Banking in Standard Chartered Bahrain said, “The Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties, manifested in the form of centres like Alia for Early Intervention, works hard to provide the best environment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder within the Kingdom and we are very happy to assist them in achieving their mission in raising awareness of ASD.”

Sahar Juma, Board Member of Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural & Communication Difficulties, said, “Our focus at Alia for Early Intervention is to provide the means for children to be educated and trained so they can be integrated into society where they can be productive citizens. Our challenge is to provide the best possible training to as many individuals as possible within Bahrain and overcoming limitations in resources whether human (trainers) or financial. Building awareness is a starting point and we look forward to a continued partnership with Standard Chartered. “
