Bahrain & India opportunities highlighted at 'Make in India' show

A delegation of leading business leaders from Bahrain, members of the Bahrain-India Society (BIS), put the Kingdom’s potential in the spotlight for Indian businesses when they visited the ‘Make in India’ show in Mumbai last week. The event, a platform for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious vision to see Indian become a manufacturing hub in the coming decade, was a grand showcase of  design, innovation and sustainability excellence across India's manufacturing sectors, according to BIS Chairman Mohammed Dadabhai. Some participating sectors include IT and electronic systems, food processing, construction media and entertainment.

Mr. Dadabhai and BIS Founder Mr. Abdulnabi Al Sho’ala were also invited to meet and speak to PM Modi, along with a select 40 business leaders from around the world including one of the biggest investors in Bahrain’s economy, Mr. Yusuffali M.A. of the Lulu Group.

“It was an eye-opener for delegates to witness the vibrant Indian economy and the can-do attitude of the Indian Government led by PM Modi,” said Mr. Dadabhai, “For the BIS delegates, it was an opportunity to better understand India, an emerging economic giant and with many Indian companies looking towards the Gulf – the UAE was a key investor partner at the Make In India event – we emphasized to these companies, the many business possibilities that existed for working with Bahraini companies since Bahrain was a Gateway to Saudi Arabia, one of the largest MENA markets.”

Mr. Dadabhai concluded, “The Indian companies and business leaders we connected with were very interested in Bahrain’s economic policies and sound business environment and in the coming months we are confident that we shall see many Indian companies setting up offices and units in the Kingdom. “BIS will continue to keep the focus on ties between these two countries and work to bring business leaders of both countries together.
