Rioters arrested: Ministry official

number of minors who took part in riots and acts of sabotage in villages and disrupted people’s interests have been arrested. 

Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Major-General Mohammed Buhammoud said that legal actions were taken against them. 

Their parents have signed written undertakings, pledging not to expose their kids from wrongdoing and delinquency. 

They were ordered to bring their children to the relevant police directorates so as to appear before the Juvenile Prosecution, as per the instructions of the Public Prosecution. 

In a statement yesterday night, he said that the measures which affirm the rule of the law, reflect keenness on the future of deluded youngsters and said that their protection represents a collective responsibility. 

He pointed put that the acts of sabotage and rioting they committed mar jeopardize their future and expose their lives as well as the life of others to danger. One of the arrestees admitted to committing acts of sabotage and illegal rallying to subvert public order and attack police patrols. 

He also confessed to setting fire to tyres, hurling iron rods and blocking roads to disrupt the flow of traffic. 

The Assistant Undersecretary stressed the firm resolve of the security forces to defend the nation, protect society and hold accountable masterminds or accomplices who are proven involved in inciting aiding and abetting to commit crimes and reform them to competent authorities for investigation. 

Buhammoud urged parents to assume their responsibility and protect their children from incitement and lawbreaking and guide them on the right path.
