Yuya Wakamatsu dominate

Second seed Yuya Wakamatsu defeated Shivansh Sharma in straight set 6-0, 6-3 in the quarter finals of the Boys 14 years and under singles yesterday on the second day of the 21st Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) Juniors Tennis Championship at the Bahrain tennis Club premises in Juffair.

In another match, Freddie Salmon also won through in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 against Aboud Tartir, while top seed Faisal Yousif received a walkover win from Yuvaraj Jinsi as did Devansh Sharma against Hamad Al Khalifa.

Meanwhile, the Girls 18 years and singles Round of 16 saw top seed Areej Fareh an easy 6-1, 6-0 winner over Cathy Sasikumar, while third seed Manni Zhang beat Daniela Zambrano 6-2, 6-3 and fourth seed Nazly Darwish comfortably defeated Rawan Adel 6-0, 6-0, while second seed Aleina Alex also advanced by default through walkovers.

Patron of the event is Abdul Karim Bucheery BBK’s Chief Executive Officer. More than 150 players have registered for the championship which runs until February 17 featuring seven categories and also includes Boys 14 years and under doubles starting today, Boys 12 years and under singles, the Unisex 6-8 years and 9-10 years starting on Friday and Boys 16 years and under singles from Saturday.

Matches will be played from 4pm on a daily basis.
