Bahrain shoot more gold

Bahrain’s Safa Khalifa collected the gold medal in the 10 metres air rifle shooting competition followed by Kuwait’s Mariam Al Marzouqi for silver and UAE’s Sumaya Al Marzouqi bronze in the Third Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST) 2016) hosted by Sharjah until this Friday.

In the 10m pistol shooting competition, Bahraini Mouza Ali won gold medal and her compatriot Ayesha Al Buraiki won silver medal, while Emirati Wafa Al Ali took the bronze.

Bahrain bagged another gold medal in the team 10m air pistol competition, while the UAE clinched silver and Kuwaiti team won the bronze. The 25m air pistol competition was won by Tunisian Olpha Sharni, while the silver medal went to Bahraini Mouza Ali, and her compatriot Mariam Al Ghurair taking bronze.

In 10m air rifle, the Kuwaiti team bagged the gold medal, while the Bahraini team clinched silver medal and the UAE bronze.

The volleyball competition saw Bahrain’s Muharraq Club (8 points) top the group, followed by UAE’s Al Wasl Club (7) in second with Sharjah Ladies Club (6) in third and sharing with Lebanon’s Al Qalamoon Club (6), while Jordanian Olympic Club (3) came in fifth place and Palestinian Ebdaa Club (0) sixth.

In the archery finals, Bahrain finished first with seven medals (3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze), followed by Kuwait with three medals (1 gold, silver and bronze), Tunisia with one gold in third and fourth UAE with four medals (1 silver and 3 bronze).

Basketball action saw Sharjah Ladies Club win 86-61 against fellow Emirati side Bani Yas Club, while Bahrain’s Al Najma Club defeated the Jordanian Olympic team

72-67.

In the table tennis doubles, Qatar’s Aya Majdi and Maha Abdul Redha beat Lebanon’s Marianna Sahagian and Tevin Moumjoghlian 3-0 in the final and UAE’s Hamda Al Qubaisi won the fencing title against compatriot Shahd AhmedKhuram.

The tournament is being held under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
