Handball team hailed

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar has hailed the Bahrain national handball team for its achievement of reaching the next World Championship for the third successive time and asserted the committee’s support to the team in its aspirations.

The nationals finished second at the recently-concluded 17th Asian Championship in Bahrain and ensuring themselves a place in the 2017 World Championship finals in France next January.

This statement was announced after his meeting with Bahrain Handball Association president Ali Isa Isaaqi, board members of the association and five members of the team - skipper Jaffer Abdulqader, along with teammates Sadeq Ali, Mohammed Abdulhussain, Hussain Al Sayyad and Jassim Al Salatna at the BOC premises in Seef, who thanked Askar for his support as they finished runers-up to defending champions Qatar.

Askar noted the committee will continue to support the team in their participation in the championship finals and he conveyed the greetings and best wishes of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and committee to the team. Isaaq expressed his gratitude to the BOC and Shaikh Nasser for the support offered to the team prior and during the competition.
