Youth resorts to sex to get marriage consent
A 21-year-old Bahraini youth reportedly had sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend to force her family to accept his marriage proposal, according to court files. The boy, who is in police custody, is said to have egged on his girlfriend to flee from her home after they opposed the marriage.
The duo had sexual intercourse in a hotel in Juffair, an apartment, his car as well as his house. They were reportedly caught after a pedestrian spotted them sleeping in a car along with two other boys. “We had a friendship and later we fell in love. But my family rejected him when he told them about our marriage,” the girl told prosecutors. “Then I fled from my house and stayed with him for two days. We had sex for five to six times,” she added.
Meanwhile, the boy said that he had sex with her in a bid to force her family to accept his marriage request. The defendant has been charged with having sex with a minor. The case is being heard before the High Criminal Court, which has adjourned it until February 18.
