Kuwait suspends overseas scholarships
Kuwait has suspended academic scholarships to students for their Masters and PhD studies in foreign universities as part the Government's plan to cut spending.
In a statement to Arabic daily Al-Qabas, the Ministry of Education Undersecretary Haitham Al-Athari said that the decision will be implemented from next academic year.
He said that a study would be conducted to assess the viability of sending Kuwaiti students to foreign universities.
However, the ministry will focus on granting scholarships to students of natural sciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry and other special academic programmes, said the minister.
