Nizwa school bus accident toll climbs to six as girl dies
The death toll in Nizwa accident rose to six, as Siya Sabu, the injured Class II student, succumbed to her injuries this morning, medics said.
“Siya’s condition was critical from Saturday only. We tried our best. However, we have lost her,” medics added.
Siya’s mother is a nurse in the same hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and her father works as an electrician in Nizwa.
Siya and her family hail from the south Indian state of Kerala.
In Thursday’s accident, five people – including Ruya and Shammas, both Class II Indian school Nizwa students, Deepal Seth, a teacher in the same school, and two Omani drivers – have lost their lives.
The bodies of Ruya and Deepal were repatriated to India on Saturday, while Shammas was laid to rest in Bisiyah, near Nizwa, on Friday.
Jade Jaison, another injured Class II student admitted to intensive care unit, is still fighting for his life.
