Aster welcomes visiting Obesity Specialist

In line with its commitment to address the increasing prevalence of obesity in the region, the Kingdom’s friendly neighborhood family clinic, Aster Medical Centre is welcoming renowned Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist visiting from Aster Medcity, India, Dr. Prasad Krishnan. The highly-experienced doctor will be offering consultations, a one-credit Continuing Medical Education (CME) class and a public symposium from January 31 to February 3.

Dr. Krishnan’s high-profile experience focuses on the treatment of obesity through Laparoscopic and Robotic Bariatric Surgery which now plays a key role in the treatment of obesity. The medical procedure is highly regarded given the increasing rate of obesity in Bahrain with 70 perc ent of adults either overweight or obese. Dr. Krishnan’s expertise also includes treatment of cancers and tumors of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Consultations will be available from February 1 to 3, from 10am to 1pm at Aster Medical Centre in Gudaibiya. Evening sessions will be held on February 1 and 2 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Individuals with symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, gas bloating, heart burn, hernia, difficulty in swallowing, bleeding rectum, hemorrhoids, fissures, melena and irregular stools are recommended to visit.

The public symposium on Gastritis and Gastrointestinal Cancer will take place on January 31 from 8:30pm to 9:15pm at Our Lady of Arabia Hall, Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Dr. Krishnan will give an overview on the inflammation of the stomach’s protective lining and its complications.

Moreover, Dr. Krishnan’s exclusive CME for doctors on ‘New Techniques in Management of Obesity - Robotic Assisted Bariatric Surgery’ will take place at The K Hotel, Juffair from 1:30pm to 2:15pm.

All attendees will be rewarded with one-credit point by the Ministry of Health.
