Indian Diaspora in Bahrain celebrates Republic Day

 

To celebrate the 67th Anniversary of India’s Republic Day, a Flag hoisting ceremony was  held at 07.30 a.m on Tuesday, at the Embassy premises in Adliya. Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha hoisted the tricolor at the embassy premises. 

The Ceremony included reading of the message of the President of India and rendering of patriotic songs by School Lots of  Indian nationals, including their families in the Kingdom participated  in the ceremony.  

The Indian Club raised the Indian flag early Tuesday morning as the focal part of its traditional Republic Day celebrations.

Watched by a good number of Members at The Club’s premises in Gudaibiya, the Indian flag was unfurled by  Ajith Madathil, the Vice-President of The Indian Club. With the Indian flag flying high, the gathered Members proudly sang the Indian National Anthem.

Mr Madathil then made a welcome speech on behalf of the Indian Club and wished the members a happy Republic Day, before inviting everyone in for a traditional breakfast.

 “This is one of the most historic days of the year for the Indian community and it has a very special and traditional place on the Indian Club’s calendar.

Even though it is an early morning start, we always get a good turn-out from the membership and on behalf of the Club’s President  Anand Lobo, and the rest of the Executive Committee, I would like to thank them for their show of support,” commented Mr Madathil.
