National Unity Film Festival to begin today
Filmmakers from over 20 countries to attend the event

A large participation of young filmmakers is expected at the National Unity Film Festival, which will begin today evening. The event is being organised by Bahrain Youth Society at the Alumni Club.
Thousands of dinars are set aside as cash prizes to the winners of the film festival. Young filmmakers will compete under three categories namely, International, Unity and Bahraini. Winners of each category will receive BD 1,500. Organisers said that local as well as international film directors from over 20 countries would take part in the festival.
Genres of films, which will be screened at the event, include politics, comedy, human rights, women empowerment and drama.
"We have invited international filmmakers so that Bahraini youth can learn from them," organizers said. A forum will be held on the sidelines of the event to discuss how filmmaking can be used as a medium in creating national unity.
