Shaikh Khalid opens office of Initiatives @ UoB

Manama : His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday opened a permanent office of ‘#Initiatives of Highness’ at the University of Bahrain in Sakhir welcoming students all over the Kingdom to “think together” and “develop goals that contribute to the progress and development of our beloved Kingdom.”

“All Universities’ students in the Kingdom are welcome to submit their ideas, and the creative innovative initiatives at the Initiatives Office,” Shaikh Khalid told the students.

“Let us make initiatives together and think together, so we see a bright future full of achievements. This will be a place for Bahraini youth to share their ideas, which would help contribute to the progress of the community,” Shaikh Khalid said during his inaugural speech. 

The First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, Honourary President of Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation was accompanied by University President Pr. Rayadh Yousif Hamza and a number of his deputies, the dean of Students’ Affairs and the Chairman of the Highest Committee of the Initiatives Office of Khalid bin Hamad at UOB Dr Osama AlJawder, the dean of Arts College Dr Abdulaziz BuLaila, and the Highest Committee of the office.

The Initiatives Office will be controlled totally by the students of the University of Bahrain and supervised by HHSK Media Office and the Deanship of Students Affairs.

The office, HH Shaikh Khalid said, will adopt “seeds of ideas that need more attention until it grows to full projects” by acting as a platform and gateway for students to the world outside. 

Following the inauguration, His Highness Shaikh Khalid went on a tour of the campus where he met a number of students. His Highness listened to the UOB President Prof  Riyad Yousif Hamzah’s explanation about the University services and programmes.

“We are delighted to play a part in this wonderful project with his Highness,” Prof Riyad Hamzah told Shaikh Khalid stressing that a key part of UoB’s transformation plan is to “play an active role in promoting creativity, leading innovation and making a positive contribution to society.”

“Through the new office, we can encourage students to think, create, collaborate and become innovators that make a positive difference to the Kingdom. UoB with so many forward-thinking students is the natural home for such an ideas factory, we look forward to many projects being incubated through this new office,”  the UoB President told HH Shaikh Khalid.
