Minister chairs committee meeting
A committee charged with other operational expenditure held a meeting, which was chaired by Housing Minister Bassem Al Hamer. The panel discussed the reduction of operational expenditure, featuring in the six initiatives of the Fiscal Balance Programme, which aims to balance Government spending and revenues by 2022.
The committee discussed a total of 117 governmental demands submitted by ministries and public entities and approved 101. The panel has so far dealt with 1,279 governmental demands, approved 1,144 and dropped 135 others. The committee will submit recommendations to the Ministry of Finance and National Economy which, in turn, will refer required reports to the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance for a final decision.
