Celebrating the glorious Tamil legacy

More than 2,000 people are expected to attend a major festival putting the spotlight on Tamil language, history, and culture. The Gulf Tamil Literary Festival will be held at the Indian Club on November 2 at 5:30 pm, highlighting the greatness of Tamil language and its history.

The first-of-its-kind event, which will feature well-known Tamil social and political figures, is being organized by the Indian Club in coordination with the Bahrain Tamil Coordination Committee. “Officials and members of all Tamil associations, social organisations, and NGO’s all around the Gulf are participating in this literary event. This Indo-Malaysian event will be a milestone in which Tamil celebrities from Malaysia are participating,” the Bahrain Tamil Coordination Committee stated.

During a press conference held yesterday at the Indian Club premises, the committee confirmed the speakers and chief guests for the event. Literary scholars and prominent Tamil politicians and public figures will attend the event including, Deputy Chief Minister of Penang State in Malaysia Dr. P Ramasamy, Ex-Member of Parliament of India Vaiko, and Member of Penang State Legislative assembly Satees Muniandy.

“The whole Tamil community in Bahrain is going to be there to make this event a huge success. I am very excited about this event and look forward to its immense success,” said Indian Club President Cassius Periera during the press conference. “Our four special guests are very knowledgeable and looked-up-to by the Tamil community all over the world. It will be a great honor for us to have them here. We are expecting a huge turnout; we have made all the arrangements to be able to receive the huge participation.
