‘Social action must to clean up Bahrain’

As part of the global cleaning initiative, Cleanup Bahrain has been launched in the Kingdom. The initiative also marks the World Cleanup Day that falls on September 15.

The day calls for a global social action programme to combat the solid waste programme including the issue of marine debris. Speaking to Tribune, Ali Alqaseer, one of the organisers, said, “The Cleanup Bahrain has taken the initiative to become the country leader for a global environmental movement named ‘Let’s Do It World’. “The move is a global cleaning initiative to mark World Cleanup Day on September 15, 2018.

Our challenge is to get 5pc of Bahrain’s population to take part in a countrywide cleanup day on September 15. “We are calling for the support of all individuals to making the initiative a success. The initiative ‘Let’s Do It World’ is to be marked on September 15, 2018, in accordance with World Cleanup Day, where people from 150 countries will stand up against the global trash problem and clean up waste.

“Let’s Do It World is a civic-led mass movement that began in Estonia in 2008 when 50,000 people united together to clean up the entire country in just five hours. Since then, ‘Let’s Do It’ has spread this model which is one country in one day around the world.
