Alert call as terrifying Momo sweeps social media networks

Parents are urged to keep a vigilant eye on their children’s online activity as ‘Momo Challenge’; a dangerous game, which the perpetrators spread on the social media networks, has begun to target gullible victims.

The dangerous social media phenomenon described as a challenge and a game, has been spreading around the world targeting children and teenagers swaying them to self-harm and to commit suicide.

The game, which originated on Facebook, starts with the victims being encouraged to communicate with a ‘game controller’ after adding the person as a contact, later the controller assigns the player a series of ‘challenges’ to go up levels of the game.

An avatar of a doll with monstrous figure is used as the distinguishing avatar for the game.

Reportedly the perpetuators target mainly teenagers with self-esteem issues. The Momo Challenge is similar to the Blue Whale game, which consisted of a series of tasks assigned to players by the game controllers over a 50-day period.

The Momo Challenge is said to be even more dangerous as the perpetuators use threats with violent images and calls.
