Three drug addicts sentenced by court
The High Criminal Court jailed three Bahrainis aged 40, 42 and 37 respectively after they were found guilty of consuming drugs.
The 40-year-old defendant was initially charged with selling drugs, but the High Criminal Court dropped this charge after he helped police officers to arrest the remaining convicts.
He was sentenced to one year in jail along with a fine of BD500 for consuming shabu. The 37-year-old man was handed down a similar punishment for the same charge, while the third convict received five years in jail along with a heavy fine of BD3,000.
According to court files, a police officer at the anti-drug department at the Ministry of Interior received a tip-off, according to which the 40-year-old had drugs in possession with an intention to consume and sell.
