Cooperation need of the hour : HM King

DhahranHis Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday said that “cooperation among brothers” is the best means to preserve Arab countries’ capabilities and ensure security and stability.

Addressing the 29th Arab League summit which began here yesterday, HM the King expressed optimism that Arab countries will be able to bring the situation in the region back to normal, safeguard their interests and maintain the security and stability of their peoples. 

Stressing the need to repel repeated foreign interference in the domestic affairs of the Arab countries, HM the King lauded the courageous stances taken by countries in support of Bahrain.

“Bahrain always appreciates the courageous stances in support of it, and in rejection and condemnation of external interference that affects the internal affairs of our country,” HM the King said, without naming Iran for its interference in the regional affairs.

Referring to regional issues, HM the King said the international community need to play a bigger role to impose and implement its resolutions and to revive a positive atmosphere for the success of political settlement of Arab and regional issues, put an end to external interventions, provide protection for affected peoples and pave the way for practical solutions to preserve sovereignty, security and independence.

Support for Palestine 

The King reiterated support for Palestinian people and its leadership, stressing the need for a just and comprehensive peace that leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as capital. “We reaffirm our steadfast position towards the Palestinian people, which is at the top of our priorities, stressing the need for a comprehensive peace that leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State on June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy,” the King said.

HM the King extended thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for inviting him to take part in the Arab Summit. “We renew our optimism of the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his great efforts to ensure a strong Arab role, a unified position and a clear message that the International Community understands, appreciates and responds to,” the King added.
