Four-wheel drive cars top imports to Bahrain

ManamaBahrainis are more interested in driving four-wheel drive cars, rather than their sedan counterparts. This is according to the latest foreign trade report released by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA). 

In the report for January 2018, Four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top product imported to Bahrain with BD16 Million, while the Sedan cars as the second with BD13 Million. Aluminum Oxide was the third products with BD10 Million during January 2018.

The report encompasses balance of trade, imports, exports (National Origin) and re-exports. 

The value of imports increased by 9 per cent as it reached BD412 Million during January 2018 versus BD377 Million for the same month of the previous year, while the top ten countries account for 67pc of the imports value and 33pc for other countries.

 

China No:1 exporter to Bahrain

According to the report, China was ranked as the first country that exports to Bahrain with BD53 Million; United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the second with BD38 Million whereas the United States of America ranked third with BD37 Million.

Additionally, the value of the exported national origin decreased by 8pc as it reached BD176 Million during January 2018 versus BD192 Million for the same month of the previous year. The top ten countries account for 79pc of the exported national origin value and 21pc for other countries.

 

Saudi first in Imports from Bahrain

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) was ranked as the first country importing from Bahrain with BD42 Million, United States of America the second with BD26 Million and Sultanate of Oman comes third place with BD23 Million.

As for national export products, Aluminum wire emerged as the top products exported in January 2018 with BD22 Million; agglomerated iron ores and concentrates were positioned second products exported with a value of BD19 Million; and Ferrous products from the direct reduction of iron Ore stood third place for exported products with BD15 Million.

In regards to the re-exported field, the value of re-exports decreased by 9pc as it reached BD39 Million during January 2018 versus BD43 Million for the same month of the previous year. The top ten countries account for 92pc of the re-exported value and 8pc for other countries. Saudi Arabia was ranked as the first country to re-export from Bahrain with BD13 Million, China ranked as the second with BD8 Million, and United States of America as the third with BD4 Million.

 

Four-wheel drive tops re-exports

Four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top product re-exported from Bahrain with BD8 Million, cigarettes came as second products with BD3 Million, and butt welding fittings of stainless steel came as the third with BD2 Million.

Deficit of Trade

The trade balance, difference between exports and imports, the value of the deficit of the trade Balance reached BD196 Million during January 2018 versus BD142 Million for the same quarter of the previous year with increase of 38pc.
