North Town project on schedule: Minister

Manama : Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam Khalaf yesterday reviewed the progress achieved by the project to connect North Town to the roads network. 

The project, considered as one of the main arteries within the infrastructure and road projects, is being realised jointly by the Housing Ministry and the Works Ministry. 

Internal roads of the project, the Minister said, is being implemented by the Housing Ministry, while the main roads surrounding North Town, all entrances and exits will be implemented by the Works Ministry. 

“It is one of the main arteries within the infrastructure and roads projects, which will contribute to supporting investment and urbanisation in the Kingdom,” the Minister said while touring the site of the Southern Entrance to North Town. 

The Minister was accompanied by Works Affairs Undersecretary Ahmed Al Khayyat, Roads Planning & Design Director Kadhim Abdul Latif, Roads Projects & Maintenance Director Sayyed Bader Alawi, Acting Communications Director Hafedh Andulghaffar, Special Projects Chief Mohammed Hassan, Traffic Engineering Chief Mohammed Abdul Hussain, and Traffic Safety Head Mamdouh Mubarak.

“The construction of the Highway will take place parallel to the revamp and expansion of a number of roads/highways to ensure connecting those main highways to North Highway,” stated the Minister. 

He extended thanks to the Ministry of Housing, the Traffic General Directorate and the Kuwaiti Development Fund for the collaboration extended to the Works Ministry.
