NMS students meet Dr. Shashi Tharoor

Around hundred and fifty NMS-DPS students of Grade X and XI got an exclusive opportunity to witness the commendable address of acclaimed writer Dr. Shashi Tharoor during his visit to the Kingdom. 

He was attending a three day event which also featured other eminent personalities like Dr. Sam Pitroda, Global Telecommunications, Raj Purohit, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister, and Dr. Chandan Mitra, Editor of The Pioneer.

Dr. Shashi Tharoor’s speech was brimming with hope, as he spoke about attempting to build an India for the lowest percentage - and how students in schools and universities were pivotal in realizing that dream. 

The audience was captivated by his extraordinary version of revolutionising the economic strata in India. During his speech, he also brought out the contributions of Dr. Sam Pitroda in the field of telecommunications and how it has been successfully used even in the remote areas of India. 

He reiterated that a candid version of India could be seen in the near future if the youth is capable of overcoming the challenges ahead. He was definite that innovation in India is truly possible and that the splendid opportunity is vested in the hands of today’s youth.

Dr. Sam Pitroda, in his speech, emphasized on the need of technical and technological advancement in the field of Agriculture and Bio-technology. He also accentuated on the need of time, motivation and content as he feels the current Educational System is obsolete. He was very certain that the world will change based on networking.

The speeches were followed by a spirited interactive session, which saw the enthusiastic students enquiring on subjects related to Social Sciences, Psychology and Philosophy. It was truly an amazing experience to cogitate, for the students who have attended the session.
