Cabinet supports Saudi measures against Houthis

Manama : The Cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Premier, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s missile attack, targeting populated areas in Riyadh.

“Such heinous crimes contravene all religions, exposing the Houthis and the serious threat they pose for the region,” said the Deputy Premier.

The Cabinet praised the efficiency of the Saudi air defences for their success in intercepting the ballistic missile without causing any damages. The Cabinet reiterated Bahrain’s solidarity and full-fledged support to Saudi Arabia for its efforts to maintain security and stability in the face of such abhorrent acts.

The Cabinet backed the steps taken by Saudi Arabia to combat terrorism in Yemen and the cash rewards announced to arrest those responsible for planning and carrying out the Houthis’ terror activities.

The Deputy Premier lauded the directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa while chairing last week’s Cabinet Session. The royal directives reflected HM the King’s firmness in dealing with Qatar, the Cabinet said.

The session also discussed a number of events hosted by the kingdom recently.

Traffic jams

The deputy premier gave directives to find immediate solutions to avert the recurrence of the heavy traffic jams on the Bahraini side of the King Fahad Causeway recently, as well as to reduce the waiting time, especially during weekends and official holidays.

Commenting on a presentation by the Interior Minister on the administrative and technical procedures taken to address the density of passengers on the King Fahad Causeway during special occasions and official holidays, the deputy premier urged the authorities to develop short and long-term solutions to ease traffic there, avoid the crowding of cars, spare families and individuals and make sure that the interests of travelers are not disrupted.
