Manama : A large shipment of imported frozen poultry, found unsafe for consumption by the Agricultural Affairs and Marine Resources at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning will be destroyed.
“A probe committee examined the shipment weighing 25 tonnes and recommended its destruction after finding it to be unsafe for human consumption,” said Chief Prosecutor for Ministries and Governmental Directorates, Advocate General Mamdouh Al-Maawda.
He said that the Public Prosecution has launched an inquiry into the incident.
“The probe committee heard the chief veterinary officer, as well as others, to investigate the circumstances under which the shipment was imported and transported. The inquiry will see whether the process involved a crime and identify the suspects. Any foul play which may affect public health cannot be tolerated,” Al-Maawda said in a statement.
