Woman gives birth to baby girl on airplane
Manama : Thepassport department of the Bahrain International Airport has provided exceptional facilities for the entry of an Arab traveller who gave birth to a baby girl at the airplane before it landed in Bahrain, according to Assistant Undersecretary of Ports, Search and Follow Up at the Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs (NPRA).
This is the first time such an incident happening in the country, he said.
The passenger came from Abu Dhabi and was heading to Doha and then to her country, but the plane diverted its route to Bahrain because of the bad weather, the official said.
Considering the woman’s situation on-arrival visa was issued for her before referring to the King Hamad University Hospital for medical care for her and the infant, the official said.
