Appeal rejected in militia training case

ManamaTwo Bahraini teenage convicts accused on grounds of receiving militia training in Iran has had their appeals rejected.

The duo were earlier slapped with ten years in jail each and their citizenship stripped off in the process.

Both of the teenagers are aged 18, but one of them is still at large, as he is believed to be residing in Iran.

According to court files, the first defendant was arrested at the Bahrain International Airport while coming from Iran, where he received training in military camps located in Qom and Tehran.

He told prosecutors that he was invited to the country by his fugitive friend, stating that he had received trainings on how to use guns and explosives in Tehran, purposely to carry out terrorist attacks in Bahrain.

“Then we moved to Qom, where I was involved in simulations of guerrilla wars and raids,” he added.
