Mukta A2 Cinemas launches in Bahrain

ManamaOne of India’s most reputed entertainment companies, Mukta Arts Limited, has launched a new six-screen luxury cinema in Juffair Mall. 

Mukta Arts Limited signed an agreement with VKL Group to launch Mukta A2 Cinemas that has a total seating capacity of 960. Shaikh Khalifa bin Daij Al Khalifa, President of HRH the Crown Prince’s Court, inaugurated the theatre yesterday. Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha was the chief guest at the event.

Chairman of Mukta Arts Ltd Subash Ghai, Managing Director of Mukta Arts Rahul Puri, Chairman and MD of VKL Group and Al Namal Group Dr. Varghese Kurian, and a number of dignitaries and media representatives were present. 

The theatre will feature the latest releases from Hollywood, Bollywood as well as Arabic releases. It’s equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Dolby Atmos and Quantum Logic 3D surround sound systems, Light Tripler polarisation 3D technology and modern projection system. 

The cinema also offers dynamic seating options such as VIP recliners, sofas and rocker seats, in addition to the variety of gourmet food and beverage options.

Speaking at the launch, Ghai said, “It is a matter of huge pride that Mukta A2 has opened its first property outside India. We are one of the first Indian exhibitors to conceptualise and build a theatre in a foreign country. It’s a testament to the entire team’s hard work.” “I am delighted that the company has taken this big step. I have no doubt that there will be many such steps to come in the near future.” 

Puri said, “We have worked really hard to achieve this milestone. Mukta A2 will be a flagship property in the Middle East and will showcase the best of English, Indian and Arabic films. It’s the first of a larger plan for Mukta A2 in the Gulf region.” 

Mukta A2 Cinemas signed a long-term lease with the VKL Group to have its property in Juffair Mall. They have entered into strategic partnerships with market leaders such as Coca Cola to be the exclusive beverage partner of the property and Awan Media for its exclusive in-cinema branding rights.

Addressing the media, Dr. Kurian said: “VKL Group is proud to be in partnership with one of India’s well-known entertainment company. With the launch of the flagship Mukta A2 Cinemas in Juffair Mall, we hope to see a tremendous increase in the footfall of visitors to the mall.” “Besides, we are very excited to witness the growth with Mukta Arts Limited and look forward to a nurturing relationship,” he added.

Shaikh Khalifa said this investment is an example of the confidence investors have in Bahrain.  “I am impressed with the facilities here. This also shows the environment that has been created to attract the investors,” he remarked during the launch. 

 India-Bahrain investment ties hailed

Indian Ambassador Sinha expressed his delight at the growing India-Bahrain investment and trade relations. “There has been renewed interest in the recent past following the ‘Make in India’ initiative launched in September 2014. Today we are completing two years of Make in India initiative. I am happy to note that Mukta A2 cinemas has chosen Bahrain for their investment,” he said. 

Office in India to boost tourism 

“We will establish an office in India soon to market Bahrain as a tourist destination in India,” informed Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, the Chief Executive of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority. 

“This week, we are appointing an officer in India representing the tourism authority. With the establishment of this office, we are expecting to boost tourism from India to Bahrain,” he said. On the occasion, Shaikh Khalid highlighted the role of Indian community in the development of Bahrain. “We are blessed to have such an Indian community here. They have been our teachers, doctors, architects and friends as well. Such investments show the depth of our relationship,” he commented.
