AmCham Bahrain Women in Business Awards

Manama: The international business community has become increasingly aware that a nation’s optimum level of development can only be achieved as women become empowered both economically and socially. The Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA), is quickly following suit and women empowerment is taking centre stage.

For the fourth year, the AmCham MENA Council Women in Business Awards has recognized an array of women in the region, who have achieved record breaking accomplishments. Those accomplishments are symbolic of the region’s vast potential.

As part of AmCham-Bahrain’s efforts to recognize women who are leading in both the private and the public sectors, the Bahrain winners for the 4th Annual AmCham MENA Council Women in Business Awards was announced.  Winners were selected from nominations submitted to AmCham Bahrain.

The winners are as follows. Best Woman in the Corporate Sector: Mirna Michel El Achkar, Head of Legal – GCC, Ahli United Bank B.S.C. – Bahrain; Best Woman Entrepreneur: Nada Alawi Shubbar, ANNADA;  Best Woman in the Non-Profit Sector: Hala Sulaiman – Tamkeen; Best Company for Woman to Work For and Best Bank Supporting Women Owned and Women Led Businesses:  Bahrain Development Bank Group.

Regional winners named

The winners from Bahrain competed on the regional level for the regional title as well. Nominations on the regional level were assessed through a panel of judges, comprising renowned and well-respected figures from the nine member AmChams countries - Abu Dhabi, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia. 

The winners are as follows: Best Woman in the Corporate Sector -  Iman Mutlaq, CEO of Sigma Investments (Jordan);  Best Woman Entrepreneur: Hala Beydoun, Founder, Cocoa & Co. (Lebanon);  Best Woman in the Non-Profit Sector: Yasmine Helal, Founder ‘EDUCATE ME’ (Egypt);  Best Company for Woman to Work For: Fattal Group (Lebanon); Best Bank Supporting Women Owned and Women Led Businesses: BLC BANK (Lebanon).

The final regional award winners were recognized during a special ceremony hosted by AmCham Egypt on March 22 in Cairo.
