Bahrain-based businessman donates BD45,000 to Chennai flood victims
Bahrain-based businessman Varghese Kurian has donated INR 80,00,000 (BD 45,000) towards the relief efforts of flood victims in south India’s Chennai.
Mr Kurian is the chairman and managing director of VKL and Al Namal Group in Bahrain whose business includes real estate, property development and management, construction, health and hospitality divisions.
Of the total amount he donated, INR 50,00,000 was given to one of India’s leading media companies Asianet that had set up a fund for the flood victims. The remaining INR 30,00,000 was equally donated to two other leading Indian dailies Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhumi.
