41,000 failed driving test in Bahrain in 2017

Manama : More than 41,000 trainees failed to pass their driving test in Bahrain last year, as the new vehicles registration touched 42,000 during the same period, according to a new traffic statistics. 

According to the latest statistics released by the General Directorate of Traffic, the passing percentage was 62.2 percent in 2017. 

“Of the 115,943 trainees only 74,518 came out successful,” said Traffic General Director Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa adding: “Driving schools issued 53,575 driving learning licenses during the same period.”

Meanwhile, through the traffic application and e-government portal, the department processed more than 1.5 million applications. In 2016, the number of electronic application processed was 52,000. 

Moving on, the Traffic General Director said the department’s traffic hotline, 199, received more than 126, 000 calls last year. The calls varied from complaints, suggestions and reporting traffic accidents. 

He also revealed that the department held 514 awareness campaigns in 2017 and also participated in public activities. “45,000 individuals benefited from the traffic awareness projects conducted in cooperation with Education Ministry,” Shaikh Abdulrahman said.
