Ministry status for eGovernment

Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday issued a Royal order officially upgrading the Information and eGovernment Authority to a Ministry.

HM the King ratified and issued the Law 34/2017 on amending some provisions of Decree-law 28/2002 with respect to Electronic Transactions, after having been approved by the Shura and Representatives councils.

The first article of the law mentioned that “the term ‘the Authority’ shall be replaced by the word ‘Ministry’ and shall be defined by the Information and eGovernment Authority and the term ‘CEO’ with the word ‘Minister’ and shall be defined by the CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority, mentioned in  Decree-law 28/2002 with respect to Electronic Transactions”.

Article 2 and 3 of the law stipulated, in detail, the information related to electronic transactions, including conditions, regulations and punishments.

The fourth and last article mentioned that “the Prime Minister and ministers, each in their capacity, shall implement the law which takes effect one day after its publication in the Official Gazette”, which is expected to be published on Thursday.
